Taormina was the last stop on my Sicily road trip and I quickly fell in love. This city combines all the things I love about Sicily into one. You can find jaw dropping views, local shops, high end boutiques, wineries, hiking and most importantly luxurious hotels!
In this article, we will explore the top three hotels in Taormina Sicily: Four Seasons San Domenico Palace, Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo, and Hotel Metropole. I had the pleasure of visiting each property in person and can not wait to help you pick the perfect place to call home in Taormina.
1. Four Seasons San Domenico Palace
This hotel really gained attention in 2023 as it was the filming location for White Lotus Season 2. I am a huge White Lotus fan, so I was totally fangirling from the moment I entered the famous lobby!
When walking in you will quickly notice that Four Seasons San Domenico Palace exudes elegance and charm. The hotel’s location in a former 15th-century Dominican monastery lends an air of historical significance to every corner. The hotel has done the absolute best job of combining historical charm and modern elegance to the entire property.
The accommodations at the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace are nothing short of exceptional. Each space is thoughtfully designed, featuring plush furnishings, luxurious linens, and all the amenities one would expect from a world-class hotel. My favorite room category was the junior suite with plunge pool, perfect for honeymooners!
The hotel features several exceptional restaurants, each offering a unique dining experience. From fine Mediterranean cuisine to casual al fresco dining, every guests will find something they love. We had the pleasure of enjoying a private dinner at the Michelin-starred restaurant, Principe Cerame. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel special, even bringing in live music in between each course!

2.Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo
The Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo was the first hotel built in Taormina. From the moment you enter the hotel, you feel the hotel’s rich history and elegance. However, the thing that stood out the most for me was the expansive views.
One of the true highlights of staying at the Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo is its unrivaled proximity to the ancient Greek Theatre. As a guest, you have exclusive access to private areas of the theatre, allowing you to immerse yourself in the rich history and cultural heritage of the region. Every year the Taormina film festival is held at the theatre.
Dining at the Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo is a culinary delight. The terrace bar, Timeo Terrace, was where we started our evening with an aperitif! There was a wonderful band playing music while the sun was setting, it was magical! We then headed to dinner at the hotel restaurant, Otto Geleng. The wine pairings made by the female sommelier were out of this world! I definitely recommend to visit the hotel for dinner at least once during your stay.
Each room either has ocean views or overlook the expansive garden on property. The guest rooms are equipped with my favorite bath products, Acqua Di Parma. As a guest you have complimentary access to Belmond’s sister property, Villa Sant’Andrea. You can access their private beach throughout the day by complimentary shuttle.

3.Hotel Metropole
If you want to be in the hear of Taormina, you can not get any close than Hotel Metropole. Located on the center street in the bustling town, this boutique hotel offers an upbeat vibe that is unmatched.
The crowning jewel of Hotel Metropole is its rooftop terrace, where a stunning swimming pool awaits, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the shimmering Ionian Sea. The terrace also features a bar, which is where we enjoyed an Aperitivo. In my opinion, this rooftop bar is the place to be for sunset and should not be missed!
The rooms are very spacious and some offer terraces that are perched high on the cliff. I would absolutely love to have my breakfast on one of their terraces! This luxurious boutique property offers personalized touches and intimate service making it one of the best places to stay.
